Summer’s here, and you’re in need of a wardrobe upgrade. Toss the tattered college tee and go with a modern crew neck t-shirt or polo. Whether you layer them on for a cool night or wear one alone in the doldrums of summer, you’ll look sharp with a well-fitted (not tight) shirt. Here are a couple of my picks from up and coming New York brand Number:Lab.

number-lab-polo-blue-whiteThe 2-Layer Jersey Polo T-Shirt is made of a proprietary Pima cotton fabric that’s (yup, you guessed it) double layered on the front and back. The clever Number:Lab designers have left the arms and side-panels single layered for proper ventilation, so you’ll only be dealing with one kind of scorched beef. The jersey fabric is super soft (even the collar is jersey) and strikes just the right balance of structure and casual, laid back style. I’m a fan and like to sport the blue/white combo (pictured right), a perfect match with a pair of light khaki shorts and Rainbow’s or Lacoste sneakers.

Men that prefer a t-shirt slash hoodie combo can choose one of Number:Lab’s short sleeve crew shirt and cotton zip-up hoodie ($162, pictured above) or the long sleeve henley with hood ($85), my preferred choice. Elsewhere in the lineup, you’ll find solid-colored henleys, long sleeve shirts, drawstring shorts, and swim trunks that follow the signature simple and crisp, American style.
