Kahn Kim | New Gear Patrol Contributor
From Brian Huang: Please join me in welcoming Kahn Kim to the Crew. Although he’s been around Gear Patrol for some time now, we set out to see just what makes this guy tick.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a Celtics fan, a transplanted Chi-shore ex-pat and a start-up junkie “hell-bent on making a West Coast-style success story on the East Coast” (E. Finn circa 1954). When I am not masticating 40 mm of rubber at the local Y, you can find me ingesting every pungent spice from here to Burma, all in the name of modern day plumbing and a relaxing rooftop smoke.
What’s your biggest achievement in life so far?
Easy. Getting three of my college buddies hired before the changing of this economy’s tide.
How has that motivated you to become a better man?
Have you ever seen Green Street Hooligans?
What brings you to Gear Patrol?
After reading Dennis Krell’s “A Man’s Face: Care, Trimming, and Gear,” specifically lines like “Moisturize, and be gay about it,” I realized, hey, this is fast becoming a community not only suited for materially judgmental, Frasier-marathon Manhattanites, but also Beard-a-thon Massholes rejecting the notion that we have have to “fall within some antiquated male paradigm” as Patrick Tuttle puts it best. This ideal, combined with my desire to write (after being pounded in the ass by a liberal arts education in the middle of Maine), is what reeled me in.
