the-north-face-thunder-jacketBeat the winter chills with some down. The North Face Thunder Jacket is new for the 2009 Fall/Winter season. Designed for freezing conditions, the Thunder Jacket is an ultra-lightweight 800 fill goose down jacket intended for athletes and backpackers. The compact fit and dimensions make it easy to pack (and wear) and even stuffs into its own pocket. Also features two hand pockets, hideaway cinch-cord, elastic-bound cuffs, and highly compressible design. Also consider wearing the Thunder Jacket like an alpine sweater. 14.2 oz with nylon ripstop fabric.

Side Note: Last winter GQ offered up a fashion tip of wearing down sportswear over more formal clothing, like a work suit. They eventually retracted that tip, but this writer still feels it functions well as a combination. Consider wearing it like an alpine sweater

Cost: $229
