Recently when we purchased a Mac Mini to use mainly as a home theater computer in our lab, we started searching for a great wireless keyboard that would make navigating the computer from the couch an easy affair. After a thorough hunt, we came across the Adesso wireless SlimTouch Mini Touchpad Keyboard.

Very lap friendly and perfectly in tune with typical Mac styling, setting up this 2.4GHz RF connected keyboard was a snap. All that was required was pluggin in the included RF USB receiver into the Mini, and we were good to go.

Overall we appreciated the keyboard’s balance between size and functionality. It’s small enough to store neatly away in most drawers and baskets, while still providing a comfortable typing experience. The integrated touch-pad is also a huge win, since it mitigates the need for a separate mouse to navigate through applications and the web.

In our average sized home theater, we had no connection issues and are inclined to believe Adesso’s claim that the keyboard performs up to distances of a 100 feet from the computer. At that distance though, we wonder how any one could possibly read the screen they were looking at. Still it’s nice to know that the capability is there.

Overall we feel this unit is a solid choice for anyone looking for a living room friendly device to work with a Mac based home theater computer. If you don’t have a Mac, be sure to check out Adesso’s line of PC compatible keyboards as well for what we’re sure will be a similarly pleasant experience.

Cost: $130 $99
