the-hurt-locker-box-art-blu-rayNot too long ago, we told you to watch The Hurt Locker and now we’ll say it again. Even better, this time it’s worth buying.

Without crossing any political boundaries (for or against), director Kathryn Bigelow weaves a tension filled suspenseful cinematic “war movie” with The Hurt Locker, but not in a way you’d expect. Following an Explosive Ordnance Team, those that disarm unexploded bombs, in Iraq circa 2004, The Hurt Locker provides a relentless feeling of paranoia as you follow a Staff Sergeant (Jeremy Renner) with his almost acroamatic outlook on life. Hell, the guy keeps a chest full of things that could have killed him. One of this author’s top 10 films of 2009 and a perfect stocking stuffer for the intellectual, action film-inclined friend or family member.

Cost: DVD ($19) | Blu-ray ($25)
