As the brain child of the German Jewelery and watch manufacturer, Heinz Schwarz, the TeNo brand stands out primarily for its creative mixing of new and old materials. Distinguished by its bold use of red, white, and black, the New TeNo Steel DyRon Sport II Chronograph is no exception and in many ways seems designed to tease the minds of all who see it.

For instance, though its stainless steel case may only measure 40mm in diameter and 8mm thick, this time piece exudes a far heftier look and feel on the wrist, thanks in large part to its industrial rotating bezel and protruding chronograph push controls.

Clever detailing in the strap is another area where this watch can trick both watch fanatics and the fashion focused alike. Unquestionably sporty and the perfect companion to the unique coloration on the chronograph’s face, a quick glance may lead many to assume it’s made from rubber. In reality, this unique band is made from a combination of black and red indented leather that grabs plenty of attention on its own when peering from the side of sleeves. Additionally, the DyRon Sport II also features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and a Swiss quartz movement.

From a personal standpoint, I’ll admit that much of my own time with this German made watch has been spent glancing down just to admire how its details combine for maximum visual impact. That’s not to say I couldn’t hear my budding inner watch snob highlight details like this TeNo’s 15 minute “count-down” bezel as a cheap copy of the diving designs pioneered by Rolex watch models the Dyron Sport II couldn’t even begin to compete with. Or didn’t bemoan the TeNo movement’s general lack of pedigree compared to watches in close price proximity like the Hamilton Jazzmaster Power Reserve.
But issues like that really stray from the point of owning this watch.

The truth is like most luxuriess this time piece serves a distinctive purpose only some will value. However if you happen to be in the market for something to wear and appreciate on days when your tasteful statement making heirloom could use some beauty rest, and your wrist could use some fun, it doesn’t get much better than this.
