We’re always open to revisit one of our favorite games of recent days, and a fresh infusion of top-notch content is the perfect excuse. Capcom has provided that very thing for their hit Resident Evil 5, which was easily one of the best games of 2009.They’ve unleashed two new episodes to add to the original game, Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape. Both fill in gaps in the RE5 story, showing events from a different perspective and following characters acting away from the main plot. Both offer approximately an additional hour of gameplay for a single run-through, though finding all the secrets and conquering advanced difficulties will take longer. Lost in Nightmares is slightly skewed towards puzzle solving, whereas Desperate Escape is an all out battle against a relentless horde of enemies. Not to mention that you get to employ Josh’s patented “People’s Elbow”.

Though individually downloadable, Capcom is offering an even better deal if the two episodes are bought as a package (the Untold Stories bundle) through either Xbox Live or PSN. If you haven’t picked up Resident Evil 5 at all (for shame), the newly released Gold Edition will fit the bill, as it contains the original game and all the available downloadable content. Happy hunting.
