LaserDisc
Say Goodbye to VHS, and Hello to the Future
Forget all the nuances paired with watching movies in the privacy of your living room, the agonizing rewinding, tape tears, complicated controls, no way to start a movie in a particular place. Now, imagine a world in which movies come on discs, this is hard to imagine we know, but luckily you do not have to imagine it. Because it exists, and it is called LaserDisc.
As the name implies, Laserdisc is a new entertainment medium featuring a disc roughly the size of a record, but get this: it can hold an entire movie. While the rest of the details surrounding Laserdisc are being kept more closely guarded than Coke’s new recipe, we do know that we can look for these players to start appearing on shelves from companies like Pioneer, Magnavox, and RCA in the coming months.
