Baxter Finley Barber & Shop

Grooming Fodder For L.A.'s Renaissance

By Ethan Dougherty on 5.5.10

Men’s grooming brand, Baxter of California, has made thigns personal: they’re taking products beyond the shelves and into barbers at the newly opened Baxter Finley, Barber & Shop. Located in Log Angeles’ West Hollywood and helmed by Jason Simao (lead barber and manger), the menu at Baxter Finley will be simple: basic cuts and shaves, skilled barbers, and an anti-ESPNZone atmosphere. Traditional grooming techniques with modern-day products – sounds like a recipe for success. Well-groomed, or not, be sure to pencil this in atop your list of grooming destinations next time you’re in the SoCal area. Tell them Gear Patrol sends its best.

BAXTER OF CALIFORNIA INTRODUCES “BAXTER FINLEY, BARBER & SHOP” New Barber Shop Opens in Los Angeles, CA (May 1st, 2010) Los Angeles, CA (April 30, 2010) – Baxter of California, the premium men’s grooming line since 1965, is getting into  the service business with their first Barber Shop, “Baxter Finley Barber & Shop”. Aptly named after the brands founder, Mr. Baxter Finley, the new shop name is considered as an homage to brands founder. Located at 515 N. LaCienega Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA – just a few hundred feet North of Opening Ceremony will be the flag ship 4 chair barber shop. Designed and built with an old world, masculine charm … the shop has chairs from the early 1900’s (restored ultra-rare Koken “White King” models), reclaimed Douglas Fir flooring, custom made oak/marble back bars, subway tile walls … and everything you expect to find in an authentic old school barber shop. Baxter Finley barbers will don custom made gingham check pull-over shirts made exclusively for the shop by Steven Alan. “We see guys trending to tradition”, Says Baxter President, J.P Mastey. “Whether we are talking fashion, or choice of barber, guys are looking for simple and traditional surroundings. Our shop will not be a lounge, or place to get spa services. We want to keep it simple and build a reputation for excellence in barbering and service.” The shop is owned in part by Baxter of California President, J.P Mastey, along with Los Angeles real estate professional and long time friend of Mastey, Allen Roth. At the service-helm, Jason Simao (of Freeman’s Sporting Club fame) is the lead barber and manager for the shop. With a basic cuts and shaves only menu, the shop will focus on great service and skilled barber techniques – no ESPN on a flat screen TV, and sorry, but no complimentary beer. The shop will be a showcase for the Baxter grooming products and shaving tools, but will also stock goods from retaW (Japan), Dr. Bronners, D.R. Harris, Marvis tooth paste, and more. The shop will open on May 1, 2010, with a grand opening slated for June 2010.
