Recently, we got the chance to get our hands on a Thule 699 Round Trip Bike Case ($370). As you’d expect from its name, the Thule case serves as a rugged method of packing one’s bike and related gear into a travel-ready case that can ship via UPS, check as luggage, or stow out of sight. Made of toughened polyurethane, the lockable, wheeled case can safely accommodate both road and mountain bikes and even includes a gear bag for clothing, tools, and components. One of our favorite features is the case design that keeps the frame and front wheel separated while packed to prevent damage and allow a compact design. Of course, Thule is a roof rack company and they’re not about to release a product that doesn’t tie in with their current line of racks. the 699 Round Trip Bike Case connects with the Thule Base rack load bars via an adaptor kid (sold separately) for vehicle roof transport. Measures 47″x30.5″x10.5″ and Thule’s lifetime warranty applies.
