Located in East Hartford, Connecticut, Olde Burnside Brewery is well-known throughout the state and southern New England for its famous Ten Penny Ale. This Scottish ale (5.5% ABV) pours a dark brown/amber color and the taste can be best described as a subtle blend of caramel and nuttiness with a hint of citrus. As for the name, the Olde Burnside Brewery calls it Ten Penny Ale because, as the old adage goes, you could get a beer for a nickel or a really good beer for ten pennies. Let’s just say we agree enough to reach for the $14 growler every time. If you live in the Southern New England area, this brew is a must-try. Available year-round.
