The 13.3-inch version measures .68-inches at its thickest point which tapers down to a model-like .11-inch at it’s thinnest. Made from Apple’s new obligatory unibody construction and weighing 2.9 pounds, its got welterweight toughness unmatched by any other laptop on the market. The screen also packs a whooping 1440 x 900 resolution (which is more pixels than the current standard 15-inch MacBook Pro has). Other specs include the choice between a 1.86Ghz or 2.13Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 128GB or 256 GB of solid state storage, GeForce 320m graphics, and 2GB of RAM. Thanks to the design and shift to flash memory, Apple’s new de facto netbook can also endure 7 hours of wireless web on a single charge, or 30 hours of standby time.
Just in case 13.3 is just too big for you, Apple also announced its smaller 11.6 inch brother. Its specs however drop to 1.4Ghz intel core duo processors, a max of 128GB in solid state storage, and a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 (again still better than current 13-inch MacBook Pros). Battery life is also slightly lower and on par with the previous MacBook Air at 5 hours.
Both also feature 2 USB ports (double that of the last model), a new instant on feature, and the updated full glass trackpad for all the multi-touch goodness your hands could ask for. Best of all, prices for this new hotness start at just $999 for the 11.6-inch and move up to $1,299 for the 13.3-inch. Oh and they’re both on sale today..so hide your credit cards if you haven’t splurged already.
