American Football is now sadly taking its seasonal breather, but it’s almost time for the knock out phase of the Champions League to begin. Right on schedule, Adidas has released this year’s “official match” finale ball, which will be used for one night only during the game at Wembley Stadium in London. It’s the 11th iteration of the Finale and for those who need to brush up on their soccer ball design knowledge, unlike the controversial Jubliani World Cup ball which featured a newfangled eight panel design and supposedly behaved funny in the air, this one is made from 14 panels. They’re still fused together though to create a seamless sphere worthy of even Lionel Messi’s Midas boot. Of course we love the orangish red coloring, but you already knew that. Look for it to flash across the field at Wimbley Stadium in London on May 28th or buy a copy for yourself now.
Editor’s Note: If you like the look of this ball but want something cheaper, the Capitano ($20) features the same coloring minus the fancy paneling, while the London Top Training ($40) version just lacks “official match ball” labeling (at least from what we can tell).
