The Jaguar E-Type is perhaps one of the most significant vehicles ever made. It will never look outdated and it stands as a nearly flawless design 50 years later. The folks at Vizualtech have rendered a concept called the Growler E to honor the E-Type on its half century anniversary. No, you don’t fill up this Growler with beer, but aside from the somewhat questionable name, the concept has all the cues of a modern classic. From the swoopy greenhouse to the flowing front end to the tastefully executed vents and grille, the Growler E manages to evoke the E-Type without copying it. Proposed power would come in the form of a 5.0 liter V-8 with supercharged forced induction, similar to the powertrains for the current Jaguar XKR and XFR but tuned to a number close to 600 hp. This, coupled with a proposed weight of around 3,400 pounds should make it quicker than the XKR by a decent margin. The classic wire wheels and silhouette of the original E-type are carried forward by the Growler E, and the minimalist design has huge appeal with us in a world of high-tech, overstyled cars. Vizualtech recently announced that it will build a small batch of hand made cars due to the overwhelming interest expressed. Prices will be around a cool $1.4 million. If it enters a larger production scale, count on $700,000 a pop. All we know is we want one.
