Hawk, line and sinker
Callaway Razr Hawk Driver
If the idea of unsheathing a lean, mean Storm Trooper inspired machine isn’t quite your style, allow Callaway to give you a taste of the dark side with their latest Razr Hawk Driver ($399). Lighter and stronger than titanium, forged composite is the hallmark technology behind this club, allowing giving engineers maximum control over wall thickness. Increased control translates into a lighter head with an improved aerodynamic design that reduces drag for increased head speed and distance without sacrificing accuracy. Combining this with an Aldila RIP graphite shaft gives long sticks a precision tool to carve out courses.
A few things about this club are evident from the start. First, Callaway engineers designed one seriously hot club. Sweet spot shots jump off the face with a penetrating low trajectory that seem to go on forever. The club is consistent and shots are easily repeatable. Second, if your driver game is more keeping it in play than trying to hit a high fade, the Razr Hawk is definitely an upgrade to consider. Off-center shots are more consistent and mishits are not just more playable they travel further too. Granted, nothing will cure major driving yips, but off in the rough is always better than deep in the drink. At least that’s what we like to think.
