When it comes to the best irons in golf, there are few quite like a set of Mizunos. As their newest, most aggressive move into the highly sought-after game improvement category (think: what most all of us need/use), the Mizuno JPX-800 Irons ($699-$899) might just well be their best yet.

Long known as the “better player’s” brand, most average golfers have been understandably timid of the brand. The JPX-800 rectifies that notion in a single swing. MAX COR construction and a multi-thickness, multi-level face in the low-mid irons lowers the center of gravity, boosting both distance and forgiveness. The entire set utilizes a massive external Power Bar designed to enlargen each club’s sweet spot — perfect for the mid to high handicapper (8-26). The entire package is wrapped up in a fantastic design that will satisfy even the most discriminating golfer. From our hands-on time with the irons, we’re convinced they perform as touted, if not better. Off-center hits still landed within target vicinities and distance control is tack sharp — we even saw higher spin rates. Now, if that’s not a game improvement club, we’re not sure what is. It appears both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine agree.

The good folks at Mizuno are giving GP readers a chance to win their very own set of JPX-800 irons, bag, glove and visor autographed by Luke Donald. Just follow them on Twitter, tweet this or like them on Facebook to enter.
Sounds like a hole-in-one to us.
