Twin Six is a Minneapolis-based cyclewear company that is headed up not by businessmen but by designers and it shows. With a winking eye towards the cheeky and a touch of retro, Twin Six makes cycling jerseys for guys who don’t want to be billboards, superheroes or wannabe Euro racers. The graphics are tasteful, clever and fresh. Check out their foray into merino, the Wool Motor ($145). Merino wool is all the rage in outdoor sportswear these days, with its natural moisture-wicking and anti-stink traits. For cyclists, it makes for a nostalgic nod to the days when Eddy the Cannibal was chasing down opponents on the cobbles of Flanders. The Wool Motor is done in classic colors and printed graphics that won’t sag like stitched ones will. The bold text is inspiring and enigmatic. Fit is athletic but forgiving. Three back pockets hold a spare tube, cell phone and energy bar for a long day in the saddle. Or a lazy Sunday coffee ride.
