Fully into the post-Bangle era, BMW has created what might be the actual perfect BMW. Every proportion of the BMW M5 bleeds with utter German perfection. Gone is the shrill V10 in exchange for a firecracker 4.4 liter twin-scroll twin-turbo V8 overflowing with technology. Power figures? A head-spinning 560 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque, which both come faster and cheaper too using a bevy of tech and fuel-saving features. Elsewhere, you’ll find a seven-speed dual-clutch tranny that rockets this mid-sized missile to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds (likely even faster on the streets), Active M limited-slip differential, foxy body work (yes, we just wanted to say foxy) and hugely simplified electronics inside. And thank your lucky stars that BMW is still offering the 6-speed manual transmission option for the purist in you. Just two buttons on the steering wheel control almost all performance-related controls as well as all the swaddling you’ve come to know and love in BMW M cars. If you’re itching for more, there’s even an optional M Driver’s Package that ups the top-speed to a colossal 190 mph. Gents, you can have your petrol cake and eat it, too, as you’ll be able to thrash just about any car out there and still tote your kids in the back seat. Time to start looking for Recaro baby seats. No price announced.
