Landline usage isn’t exactly growing by leaps and bounds, but Canadian designer Joel-Blair is at least helping the technology go out in style with the Detraform 500 Dect cordless telephone ($130). Its polished ploycarbonate and aluminum L-shaped shell is instant eye candy, as is the clean, white numbering and caller ID display. In terms of functionality, the device features are what you’d expect including touch tone dialing, a speaker phone button, and even a simple push-to-talk intercom system. Available for pre-order on Ulule which is basically a kickstarter clone, the project still requires quite a bit of pickup from curious buyers to go into production. If the project gets its money, we’re pushing for Gordon Gekko’s cell to star in the next episode of Detraform makeover.
