An inside look with the GP founders
Coach x Gear Patrol | My Coach Day: Monday
Ever wondered what a typical week looks like for Gear Patrol’s founders? Well, you’re in good company with Coach. Specifically, the historic brand had a challenge for us. The goal: an evaluation of how their latest men’s line kept up with the pace of our lives here in New York.
Never ones to miss an opportunity to go hands on — particularly when it comes to fine leather goods — we agreed to the challenge. After all, in a city where cars aren’t practical, how a man carries himself, and his things makes all the difference. The result: a series of photo essays highlighting four separate days we spent taking Coach goods out for a spin. You’ll find the first segment in this four-part series below, which begins on everyone’s not-so-favorite day, Monday.
Monday, 7:30 am
We always spend the early half of Monday reviewing what happened last week and preparing for the week to come. With a team of contributors sprinkled across the country, coordinating their efforts is always a top priority. The result of our Monday editorial review is a schedule for the articles we’ll publish on site that week. Like any good publication, though, we’re always prepared for curve balls as new gear and news hits the wires. Planning is important, but flexibility and agility trumps all.

Serious business is routinely accomplished through coffee meetings in NYC. Often, we use these quick afternoon sessions to meet with fellow publishers, brands, and designers, keeping our ears to the ground on what’s happening in the turbulent world of men’s lifestyle. Also, if you’re ever hoping to catch one of Gear Patrol’s many interviews in progress, your best bet is to stroll into a coffee shop near our midtown offices around the same time. Look for the table of two with the voice recorder.

Monday, 6:45 pm
A typical day for our NYC staff ends after 8:00 pm. Escaping before that usually means we’re attending one of the many dinner or cocktail events that occur every week in the city. These events can be anything from fall fashion previews, to gadget unveilings, to dinners with watchmakers to learn about their latest movements. It’s exciting, exhausting — and the primary reason we inhale coffee at all hours.
