Taking the road less more traveled, Adidas Outdoor (think: an athletic approach to getting outside) has unveiled a lineup of gear for 2012 that has us ready to shed the parkas and hit the trails. Namely, the Terrex Fast R Hiking Boot ($195). Featuring a high-tech Traxion sole developed in conjunction with Continental — yup, from the same company that don your high-performance German whip — the Terrex Fast R is all about being light, being stable and being fast.

Recently, we went hands-on with the Terrex Fast R along with other upcoming releases from Adidas Outdoor. The coolest feature: the use of Adidas’ proven Foremotion technology with an added dimension. Using 3D Foremotion, the Terrex maximizes ground contact through the use of two overlapping sole plates which slide in any direction depending on conditions and the angle of attack. The result is a shoe that’s infused with tons of technology, Gore-Tex lining, and weighs just 15 oz. Sounds fast to us.

Hit the jump for our hands-on photos with the Terrex R and the rest of the lineup.
