We’ve covered some great Helly Hansen outerwear, so we thought we’d give their hiking shoes a try. The Helly Hansent Kikut Reboot HTXP Mid proved to be an excellent companion on our cool morning trail run/hike in San Fran’s Golden Gate Park. The Kikut fit well from the start with both good cushioning and midfoot support due to the stabilizer, dual density EVA midsole and C-Zone silicone gel heel and forefoot cushioning. The high traction but not overly bulky Helly Wear Rubber sole allowed us to traverse wet pavement and loose dirt easily. Several miles later, our feet felt pretty good with no sign of weariness (our lungs didn’t fare as well). As an under-pronator, this author found confidence in the Kikut both walking and running and the Kikut kept our typically hot feet and a comfortable temperature. The extra ankle support from the mid-form design is a huge help. From a design standpoint, it’s an attractive shoe, especially in gray and yellow, both stealthy and athletic. It’s a trail shoe worth looking into, and Helly Hansen has definitely done it right.
