It’s only fitting that the founder of Paper Denim & Cloth, Scott Morrison, is the mind behind 3×1. The jeans demigod created the SoHo-based store/workshop/gallery as a shrine to all things denim that includes over 130 bolts of selvage to choose from, and a glass-enclosed “atelier” where each hand-stitched individually numbered pair is made for all the world to see. Denim heads can choose from a variety of unique leg covers both in store and on the site, but true believers will pony up the dough for a one-on-one consultation/measuring with the man himself that will net you complete bespoke customization from rivet colors all the way down to pocket dimensions. Starting at $1,200, the bespoke treatment costs more than a closet full of Levi’s, but at least you can finally request pockets that are deep enough to keep pace with your lifestyle.
