Audi’s Q5 has been a huge success both on our shores and internationally, so it makes perfect sense for the German automaker to capitalize on the SUV/Crossover segment with the introduction of the Audi RS Q3 concept at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show. The question remains as to whether we’ll be lucky enough to get this mini-monster. As you already know, the RS badge means that this won’t be your standard Q3. It will actually house the capable 2.5 liter TFSI turbo five-cylinder from the super-quick TT RS. A healthy 360 horses and a zero-to-sixty time of 5.2 seconds mean that the RS Q3 will be one of the fastest crossovers out there.
Tastefully done up, even its fancier garb, the RS Q3 is an exercise in less-is-more. Nice touches like aluminum trim, slightly tinted headlights and the lovely black honeycomb grille set it apart from its lesser brother. The interior is also upgraded but remains tastefully Teutonic. Wide expanses of black interrupted by a staccato of blue Alcantara seat trim and illuminated door trim give the RS Q3 a sportier look. Lower ride height and 20 inch wheels equate to better handling and, naturally, slightly more jarring ride comfort. But who cares? You’ll crush every soccer mom in a drag race.
