Gone, more or less, is the somewhat tepid and conservative design, replaced by the huge spindle grille (a la Audi Union style) and more sculpted sheet metal to carry forward the slightly more aggressive design language for the Lexus line. The old nomenclature will stay to include the base LS 460, the LS 460 L (long wheelbase) and LS 600h L (hybrid long wheelbase), but the new — and our favorite — LS 460 F Sport takes a more aggressive route in looks and performance.
The LS 460 F Sport is the muscle in this lineup, albeit by a slight margin. It gets 6 more horsepower, up to 386 and gets mated to an 8-speed paddle shift, automatic tranny with Torsen limited slip diff. The F Sport also gets Brembo brakes, lowered ride height, upgraded suspension and more responsive steering. Design-wise, look for a mesh grille, revised front and rear trim, rounded LED fog lamps and some nicely darkened 19 inch wheels. You can already see that change is in the air for Lexus, and that’s a good thing.
