It’s sad to say, but the wickedly fast and capable Camaro ZL1 is out of reach for many. If you still want fantastic performance but don’t want to pay fantastically high prices, please direct your eyes to the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE performance package for the Camaro SS. It takes the base SS and throws in upgrades like beefed up suspension including a bigger front anti-roll bar, a strut tower brace and some sweet big brother bits like the ZL1 shock mounts, wheel bearings and high capacity fuel pump. Woohoo.

And though the horsepower and torque numbers from the SS remain the same, the 1LE package provides ZL1 inspired rims and fat 285/35ZR20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G tires, the same ones on the front of the ZL1. The 1LE also gets the ZL1′s flat bottom steering wheel. Nice. A front splitter and a rear spoiler provide downforce, and a sweet matte black hood adds the final exterior touch. Look for an 1LE outfitted Camaro SS to come in at under $40K with performance on the track that should easily outperform the regular SS and look far better doing it. Light ‘em up, gents.
