Building upon their popular Sortie 26″ platform, Diamondback recently entered the 29er field with the Sortie 3 29 ($3,500), full suspension trail bike packed with technology and features. The larger wheels obviously contribute to the bike’s slightly larger size, but with the extra inches come several advantages — 29″ wheels have a larger angle of attack, which enable you to roll over obstacles easier, a much bigger momentum, and a lower center of gravity providing more stability. While definitely a pro-level build, the Sortie is still affordable (relatively) for a bike at this specification including top-tier components like a 6061-T6 weapons-grade aluminum frame, Diamondback Knuckle Box Suspension technology, and Shimano XT Hydraulic DiscICE brakes.
