What’s not to love about the all new Porsche 911 Carrera? Longer, wider, faster and more balanced than the previous generation, the car can make heroes out of the ham-fisted. Porsche now has even more to brag about with the pre-2013 Paris Auto Show announcement for the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 4S (Carrera 4 Coupe: $122,229; Carrera 4 Convertible: $138,182; Carrera 4S Coupe: $140,716; Carrera 4S Convertible: $156,670).
The more elegant and streamlined 911 body shows up on their 4-wheel drive versions and an additional 5 horsepower each from the 2-wheel drive versions. The Carrera 4 Coupe has a 3.4 liter flat six engine with an output of 350 horsepower and the top end Carrera 4S has a 3.8 liter with 400 horses. Both 4-wheel drive models sport fatter rear ends and rubber to match. To our everlasting joy, both cars will come standard with a seven speed manual transmission. The seven speed PDK is optional. With reduced emissions for both cars and impressive mileage (20/28 for the Carrera 4, 19/26 for the Carrera 4S), efficiency and environmental consciousness were top priorities but still take a back seat to purist performance. Both cars will debut in Paris and will go on sale toward the end of 2012 in coupe and convertible form. Just in time for some sporting winter driving.
