Of all the sport cross-pollinations we could think of, tennis and skateboarding aren’t at the top of the list, but then again football players are doing yoga, so all bets are off. As an avid tennis player and fan of the sport, Nike Skateboarding team rider Gino Iannucci had always been inspired by the original 84′ challenge court and its ambassador John McEnroe. His new adaptation retools the shoe’s stability for a new era thanks to the addition of a hobnail cupsole and Lunarlon midsole/sock liner, a nylon mesh upper trimmed in full-grain leather and an extended ankle collar. The memorable red and blue colorway was also swapped for more muted green and black, harkening back to the courts that the shoe was originally bred to play on. These unique kicks are available now for $80 from select Nike retailers and skate shops across the country. We’ve also embedded a video showcasing what happens when the worlds of two living legends collide, after the break.
