The Japanese are known for minimalist design and intelligent engineering; Snow Peak embraces those values in its new Mini Hozuki Lantern ($40). Styled after a traditional Japanese paper lantern just like its larger sibling, the Hozuki Lantern, the mini Hozuki is an elegantly simple battery-powered camping light that weighs all of 2.4 ounces, lasts up to 70 hours on low power and can even flicker like a candle without burning down your tent. The silicone hanging hook straps over any pole or branch and a small magnetic catch allows it to cling to any metal surface. All this function comes in a form that looks straight out of a Zen monastery.
