If you sneer when people ask “cream and sugar?” you have two problems: a mean attitude and a nasty coffee addiction. La Colombe Pure Black ($6) coffee concentrate aims to abate the latter (which, fortunately, may also dismiss the former). The bottled java is steeped for 16 hours in stainless steel wine tanks — ah, if only that would impart just a hint of booziness — and pressed and filtered twice. The folks at La Colombe, whom we have come to see as knowledgeable coffee fiends, say the undiluted liquid is great served over ice or used in mixed drinks; we just want to take shots of pure slap-your-face joe to get rolling in the morning.
