It’s safe to go out on the streets again. No more following driving directions into a lake a la “The Office”. Google Maps for iOS 6 (free) is the same quality tool it’s ever been, with a new streamlined look and a deliciously intuitive UI in addition to search, voice guided turn-by-turn navigation and street view. These are all things that iPhone users have been bawling for since Apple’s latest black-and-silver, hand-fitting, attention-span-stealing machine came out and led them down strange back roads.

Of course, as always, it’s free. We’ve come to depend on Google’s utmost excellence in tackling this vital tool; Apple’s failures just give a shiny new appreciation to your “where’s that?” expectations. We’ll never take you for granted again, Google Maps. We love you.
