Crossovers are here to stay, so we’re happy to welcome ones that get our blood racing. The soon-to-be-released 2014 Audi SQ5 is just such a heart thumper. The SQ5’s rather robust 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine has an output of 354 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque — more than in the S4 or S5. It’ll get the car to 60 in the low 5s and top out at a governored 155 mph.
An 8-speed automatic transmission manages that hearty stable of horses and provides power to all four wheels. Just like all of Audi’s performance models, the SQ5 gets the dressy duds treatment with beautiful Panther black or rich Estoril blue paint, an ornate grille and trademark silver side mirrors. Look for the SQ5 in limited numbers this summer; pricing has yet to be announced.
