Everything You Need to Know About the Olympic Slopestyle Course
According to the International Olympic Committee Charter, the International Ski Federation (FIS) gets to choose the course designer for Olympic Ski-related events. For the Sochi Olympics, the FIS tapped a 36-year-old Swede named Anders Forsell, a former terrain park manager at one of the most renowned freestyle resorts in the world, and the current owner of Snowpark Consulting — think Roller Coaster Tycoon, but snow parks.
Despite Anders’s professional pedigree, many riders have expressed concerns regarding the Slopestyle course, and some have even been injured during practice runs. It’s a dubious start for a brand new Olympic event for both skiers and snowboarders. What does the course look like, what’s the event all about, and why is there already so much controversy?
