This might be the ultimate throwback diversion at your next party. Forget the Wii or Rockband. Get a TV Etch-A-Sketch. It plugs into your television through a video input and suddenly your flat-panel is now hours of useless fun.
Sure, it’s geared towards children but with a few beverages and some laughs your guests will be mad with sketching. Best of all you don’t lose the shake-and-erase fun. Just shake the controller and the image disappears.
What this means to you: Made for children. Enjoyed by adults.
Cost: $13 @ The Lighter Side

When you think of IKEA you probably think Swedish Meatballs. If no meatballs then you might think of one specific chair from IKEA that’s basically become synonymous with the pre-fab(ulous) brand.
It’s the POÄNG chair. Made of layer-glued bent beechwood it provides great flexibility as well as comfort. The simple yet ingenious design blends comfort and style with a low price, the very founding principles of IKEA. There’s also a footstool available, but like any footstool or ottoman, you pay a premium.
Our last visit to the venerable furniture store proved to be a pleasant surprise as discovered they now offer the POÄNG with a Ullevi orange hued seat cushion in addition to a black-brown frame. Gear Patrol colors anyone?
What this means to you: At this price, why not get two?

When you think of water bottles most likely Nalgene comes to mind and rightly so since they’ve put out a venerable product for more years than we care to remember.
But Camelbak, also synonymous with hydration solutions has a bottle you should avert your eyes and money to. It’s an innovative spill-proof bottle. It uses the Bite-n-Sip valve Camelbak uses in their other products to prevent spilling when drinking. It doesn’t even require you tip the bottle. Definitely handy if you’re on the go and need your head focused. Camelbak has taken the spill-proof definition even further by making a product that won’t spill even if it’s left in the open position. There’s some explanation of vacuums and whatnot here, but we’ll spare you the details.
The .75 liter carrying capacity bottle is dishwasher safe and has an integrated handle for your carabiner.
What this means to you: A cheap, fantastic solution for your training hydration needs and it’s available in more colors than we care to list.
Cost: $10-14 @ Amazon

In a world of plastic and aluminum electronics it’s nice to find that there are still those that embrace the always-in-style wood. In this case, a hand-crafted cherry iPod dock.
The Vers 2x plays and charges all iPods (sans the Shuffle) with it’s included 8 iPod adaptors and produces gorgeous room-filling sound via two 3″ 15 watt full-range drivers. The drivers are complimented by dual bass ports for surprising bass performance from such a small cabinet. It has a removable speaker grille which we prefer removed and a full functioning remote which controls all iPod functions.
What this means to you: A small stylish package that doesn’t compromise on serene sound.

The beauty of a good ottoman is it’s ability to serve as not only a place to prop your feet but a coffee table as well or in the case of this writer, additional seating for guests as they’re tearing it up some Xbox. Using a wood serving tray you’ll have a perfect place to throw out the snacks, drinks and whatever comestibles you prefer having.
This ottoman’s birch frame is a wood-veneered pine in espresso, has a bi-cast leather surface and button tufting.
What this means to you: $200 for a coffee table / ottoman / additional seating not to mention it’s got a timeless look. Who says you can’t be surrounded by good looking things as you frag enemies on your plasma?
Cost: $200 @ Target

If this isn’t proof a hybrid can be gorgeous I don’t know what is. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Fisker Coachbuilders they’re a custom coach builder that takes cars like the Mercedes Benz SL or the BMW 6 series and turns them into individualized works of art. Henrik Fisker was the designer of the Aston Martin DB9 and the BMW Z8 so his credentials need no justification.
The Fisker Karma was built in cooperation with Quantum Fuel System Technologies and unlike most hybrids which start with another vehicle and undergo mechanical transformation - the Karma is all new with a price to match.
Karma’s Q-DRIVE is based off of lithium batteries that can propel the vehicle up to 50 miles on battery power alone but obviously works in conjunction with the 4-cylinder engine to give the vehicle a 100 mile per gallon fuel efficiency. Yes, 100 miles per gallon. 100mpg, 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph. Those are specs previously never seen in the same sentence. Keep an eye out for this one. [via Acquire]
What this means to you: For the price of a well equipped Porsche you can get yourself into a true eco-lusive (we know, that’s reaching pretty far) vehicle.
Cost: $80,000 - $100,000 @ Fisker
