We never thought we’d be writing about a Pontiac on Gear Patrol, but the G8 GXP simply embodies too many things this particular writer is fond of - and that is overpowered sport sedans. The Germans have had this market cornered until the recent surge from the domestic brands. GM has reached into it’s brothers Down Under to bring us the Australian developed Pontiac G8 GXP.

It’s highly anticipated and will be unveiled at the New York Auto show next week. We undoubtedly hope in blazing orange.

GM’s 6.2L LS3 V8 (straight from the Corvette) will provide a neck snapping 402 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque via a Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox or HydraMatic automatic transmission to it’s 19-inch aluminum wheels. Not rowing your own gears in this vehicle would be an absolute shame though. Brembo brakes will keep you in check. [via]

More photos after the jump.

What this means to you: Pontiac once used to be the brand your irreverent size clamored for. The nostalgic moments were all but lost when we were given the Pontiac Aztec… until the G8 GXP.

Cost: TBD
