Ahead of the New York Auto Show, some images of the 2009 Nissan Maxima have been unveiled at SuperNissans.net. We’re going to reserve judgement until we can reveal the specifications for the vehicle, but the new, polarizing look, of the Maxima takes from the forthcoming 370Z and in some odd way that only a Japanese car could do, it works. The swooped headlights soften the decidedly in-your-face grill giving you a sense that you haven’t really bought an Infinity, but you haven’t bought an Altima. Crossy our fingers that the specs won’t disappoint. The Maxima has a lot of ground to make up since it’s heyday as a marquee import sport sedan and we’re anxious to see if the engineers at Datsun, former, can do it.

Check Autoblog, Left Lane News, and World Car Fans for updates on the Maxima.
