If you haven’t played any of the Meetal Gear series then MSG4 is a good way to get your feet wet. Guns of the Patriots is the fourth installment of the Metal Gear Solid series, by Kojima Productions and if you’ve seen the game trailers then you know this game is nothing short of bad ass.

Game synopsis, trailer and thoughts after the jump.

Set in 2014, MSG4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, providing the need for private military companies (PMCs). The five largest PMCs are owned by one mother company named Outer Haven and, which is operated by Liquid Ocelot. Ocelot prepares to launch and huge armed insurrection and it’s your mission to take him out.

metal-gear-solid-4-box-art.jpgIn MSG4 you play as an older version of Solid Snake, but don’t get it twisted, he’s still a bad ass mo-fo. To defeat your enemies you’ll have to use stealth tactics and traditional combat and Solid Snakes new camo will have you maneuvering the waste lands like a ninja.

I’ve been playing this game like a fiend for the past couple of days and can see how it has received highly acclaimed reviews . The online component of MGS4 has little to offer compared to other online shoot’em ups and not many people online seem to have headsets, so be prepared to kick ass silently. If you have a PS3 this game is a must own.
