About: I joined the gang at Gear Patrol because I believe that as men we often settle for less than the very best lifestyle we can attain. It’s been ingrained into our psyches to forgo certain products, services or lifestyles because they don’t fall within some antiquated male paradigm. Bunk.
It’s time as men to stand up and redefine what’s rightfully ours. Much of what I have learned to this end has come through advice from guys who had the experiences and knowledge I was seeking. My only regret was not learning it sooner. Now I feel it’s my obligation to pass along what I know. I’m not saying I have all the answers but I’m happy to share what I’ve learned so far.
On a more personal level, I live an active lifestyle and focus on my health and wellness as a means to sustain the frenetic pace. I also suffer from a case of golf-itis and spend a lot of my free time perusing that passion… ok, obsession. I aim to incorporate relevant fitness and golf content into Gear Patrol’s expanding coverage of all things male. Like the rest of the crew I can’t stand over-hyped, under-performing products. None of that crap will be perpetuated here.See Authors Posts (93) on Fri, Aug 1, 2008 | Email To A Friend

4-time Open winner Bobby Locke famously, and rightly, stated that you, “drive for show, putt for dough.” Nothing ruins a good round or my patience more than dismal putting. Blowing a two-footer or three putting for a bogey will crush your score, and your will to live for that matter. Technologic advances aren’t just for the latest drivers, putters are now hoarding in on the action. The Rossa Monza Spider putter from Taylormade golf uses some of the same cutting edge technology as their drivers. [Read on to find out how and see additional images]

Employing movable weight technology, substantial weight is concentrated in areas far from the face, shifting the center of gravity far rearward for increased MOI and stability. Simply put, off-center hits are closer to the intended line and distance, i.e. the hole.
I was really surprised by how light the Spider is. It’s almost effortless to swing in a perfect pendulum. The key to any good putting stroke is feel and tempo. The Spider for all its size felt more like a blade putter. I found lag putting particularly easy as I was able to keep a smooth motion even with an extended backswing. Own the greens and you’ll own your score.
