We here at Gear Patrol take our duty to bring you the coolest gear around very seriously. But on Thanksgiving, we’d like to remind you of a quote by Frederick Koenig:
“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”
As your family and friends gather around the dinner table tonight, take a moment to look around and reflect on all that you have to be thankful for. Take that time to recognize and appreciate the people who have made it possible for you to be where you are today. Don’t forget to tell your mom that you love her.
Happy Thanksgiving from the entire GP Crew.
Oh, and in case you’re here looking for something to see today, you can always watch the Adidas Original House Party Video our friends at limitedhype got exclusvie dibs at. Watch it after the jump and compare that to what’s going on at your house. Trust us, it’s not the same.

Diversify Your Winter Wardrobe

Men, here’s a quick fashion tip that blows by many. When the weather turns cold, your outerwear is the most visible and memorable part of your attire. So everyday you walk into the office wearing the exact same coat, you’re one step closer to developing a permanent nick name. And not of the cool middle school variety. (Think “you know…that guy…what’s his name… Dusty maybe? That dude with the pink coat… that guy”).
Believe me, I know how hard it is to buck the primal need for warmth at the expense of fashion. We all are guilty of having favorites: that old North Face or Patagonia. Everyone has that coat that kept them toasty through back country skiing and mid winter campouts. Or one that’s saved their ass during ball-freezing wanderings from bar to bar.
Here’s the thing though, just because a coat isn’t certified to keep you smoldering during an ascent of K2 doesn’t mean it’s ineffective. In fact there are coats that don’t contain materials invented in petri dishes or labs with a “Tex” in their name, but still manage to keep you warm, and looking sharp.
Take Cloth Logic. A brand which strikes that perfect blend of style and practicality, Cloth Logic’s entire line is just enough to get you noticed without making a scene. Offering wool coats under $150 and unique sweaters under $90, you can afford to pick up a couple without blowing your entire gifting budget.
Gear Patrol’s staff had the opportunity to give Cloth Logic’s lineup a wear this blustery winter and couldn’t have been more impressed. We’ve got a few of the editor’s picks after the jump.

Now You Know… And Knowing Is Half The Battle
Being the savvy, well-educated Gear Patrol technophile that you are, you’ve certainly noticed that one of the most consistent wallet wasting trends of recent months has been the steady increase in energy costs across virtually all geographies and power utilities.
Whereas this lowly commentator prefers to deliver only good news to his dear readers in this case, he cannot. Sadly, my prediction is that the cost curve will continue to skew upwards. (Ed: Especially with Eric’s propensity for purchasing plasma TV’s.) As such, we consumers must conspire to outsmart these dastardly rate hikes, if we would continue to feed the kilowatt needs of our favorite gadgetry. Enter the Black & Decker Power Monitor.
You may not know this, but by day this Gear Patrol Game Guru actually serves the construction industry as an Energy Efficiency Guru. Each and every day I encounter folks who are blowing money on poorly constructed homes, inefficient appliances, and poorly sealed or insulated buildings. Identifying problem areas and strategizing to consciously conserve power doesn’t just make you green, it saves you green.
Learn how after the jump.

When it comes to buying a pair of sneakers, I’m on a mission. I probably own far more than I need, but rocking the same pair everyday isn’t my thing and as a Gear Patrol reader I’m sure it’s not yours either. As I’ve grown older and become a little more refined (ha), my tastes have changed a bit. I have accumulated a sense of style, but still yearn to be my own man. I used to rock the bulky skater shoes because… well… I skated. That and normal sneaks just couldn’t handle the wear and tear that comes from clearing a gap or 5-0’ing the ledge across town.
The skater in me still wants the skater shoe, but without the all the bulk and a little more style. After all my searching I can say SUPRA footwear was exactly what I had in mind. The slick styling of uber kicks and the durability of a skate shoe. With features like premium leather, high memory polyurethane insoles and injected SupraFoam, how can you go wrong?
I opted for a pair of Vaiders and when staring down my collection of shoes for a chill night out, I go for these almost every time. Not only are they styling and attention garnering, they’re comfortable.
Whether you’re looking for a High-top, Low-top, Slip-on, and\or Funky ass colors, SUPRA’s the brand for you.

Live Outside the Lines
Skin is the body’s biggest organ (though some men may beg to differ) and yet most guys completely neglect it. With the winter months upon us, limiting outdoor activities, now’s the perfect opportunity to rehab the skin on your face.
Biotherm Anti-Rides Line Peel is not the newest facial cream on the block, but is a tried and true cream that I always turn to when I get dry skin or irregularities. This product is meant to be used daily and trust me; it ain’t your wife’s cold cream. It’s loaded with vitamins and minerals specifically designed to help a man’s skin recover. Biotherm Anti-Rides Line Peel doesn’t just hydrate. It gently stimulates your skin’s natural renewal process leaving your mug softer, smoother and ready for those Eskimo kisses.

Porsche Discovers Rear Doors

Courtesy: Porsche North America
Porsche (pour-sha) is calling the Panamera a “Four-Door Grand Touring Sports Car.” We suppose they deserve the right to call it whatever they want, but we’ll fondly refer to it as a Porsche for the unselfish father.
Throw in a couple of child seats in the rear, a beautiful woman in the front seat or both, ignite the engine and relish in the moment. The Porsche Panamera will undoubtedly cause stir amongst the rabid Porsche fans, but I think the Paneram is a natural iteration in the Porsche lineup. (Ed: Definitely less jarring than the eyesore Porsche Cayanne SUV)
The Panamera will come equipped with a range of engines from 300 horspower V6’s to a 500 horsepower turbo V8 with six-speed manual gearboxes or seven-speed dual clutch auto-manual. Look for all-wheel drive variations to come sometime in 2011.
The inevitable question about what the Porsche’ Cayman’s rear looks like can be seen after the jump. [As Seen On TTAC]
