Diversify Your Winter Wardrobe

Men, here’s a quick fashion tip that blows by many. When the weather turns cold, your outerwear is the most visible and memorable part of your attire. So everyday you walk into the office wearing the exact same coat, you’re one step closer to developing a permanent nick name. And not of the cool middle school variety. (Think “you know…that guy…what’s his name… Dusty maybe? That dude with the pink coat… that guy”).

Believe me, I know how hard it is to buck the primal need for warmth at the expense of fashion. We all are guilty of having favorites: that old North Face or Patagonia. Everyone has that coat that kept them toasty through back country skiing and mid winter campouts. Or one that’s saved their ass during ball-freezing wanderings from bar to bar.

Here’s the thing though, just because a coat isn’t certified to keep you smoldering during an ascent of K2 doesn’t mean it’s ineffective. In fact there are coats that don’t contain materials invented in petri dishes or labs with a “Tex” in their name, but still manage to keep you warm, and looking sharp.

Take Cloth Logic. A brand which strikes that perfect blend of style and practicality, Cloth Logic’s entire line is just enough to get you noticed without making a scene. Offering wool coats under $150 and unique sweaters under $90, you can afford to pick up a couple without blowing your entire gifting budget.

Gear Patrol’s staff had the opportunity to give Cloth Logic’s lineup a wear this blustery winter and couldn’t have been more impressed. We’ve got a few of the editor’s picks after the jump.

cloth-logic-pea-coat-sweater.jpgEric: Our editor’s picks for the season include the Peacoat classic in black, and the t-neck sweater in stone with plaid. Both pictured to the right.

Ben (um, me): I went with the wool double breasted coat in eclispe because of its awesome interior lining (such a nice detail), and the striped crew neck sweater. Pictured top.

Dusty Well we already covered his love for pink jackets, which fortunately for him weren’t available.

Cloth logic is carried by boutiques across the country. Use their store locator to find the one closest to you, or just shop online.

Editor’s Note: Shout out to our friend (and editor) Bernard over at Acquire for bringing this amazing company to our attention. Also count on hearing more from us on Cloth Logic in the future as more looks hit the scene. It’s just that good.

Prices: $50-$150 @ Cloth Logic

Hey, why do you guys all look like Brett from Flight of the Conchords?

  • Wolfie Rankin says:

Why is it that as soon as it gets cool and dark, people start wearing horrible dark colours? I’m sick of it… I love bright colours and would love to see designers going in that direction.

Winter is dull enough without going all dark.

    Wolfie!

  • haute couture girl says:

I love when guys wear peacoats. I think its because I went to school in Boston and adore the New England rugged look. I must state another definite staple for the winter is denim. Guys wear out of them so quickly! Replace the old pair with the upcoming new year. Check this out . . . There’s a special sale on hautelook where you can get seven jeans for 50% off!
