Kirk -

I completely agree, anything to keep in touch with the rest of society. It's amazing how fast you can shut yourself off. Good luck with your search.

Patrick -

Good article and thanks for putting this together. I have been hitting the gym for a couple hours most days while being laid off. Has definitely helped my Triathlon training not having to go in to work every day.

I have also done a couple other things that have been helpful:
- Signed up for a class at the local community college
- Get out of the house and go to a place like Panera with my laptop. Good to be around people and not stuck inside all day.
- Bother the hell out of people in my network to keep finding opportunities.

Sorry to hear it. I always had the impression that GearPatrol was a little more than a hobbyist blog, and that somehow there were enough advertising dollars to hire people... I'm a little confused now; are all the contributors actually volunteers? Certainly this site has the look and feel of a commercial site, I know you guys have advertisers, and I see no reason why it couldn't be self-sustaining... I think this is a great site and would be more than happy to invest what little I could to help bring it to the next level... There's no more important ingredient to a business than having good people and it seems you have that part covered, so I am a little confused by this post...
