Real golfers lug their own sticks. It’s a rule. Seriously, look it up. I’m a firm believer in walking the course. It’s how the game was meant to be played. During an average round of golf a man will lift and set down his bag over 100 times and walk 3-4 miles. Those of you wanting to remain true to the game will want to a light-weight bag (Note: avoid Eric’s propensity to carry 6 dozen balls, though). Taylormade’s Monza Featherweight Stand Bag may be a mouthful, but it won’t break your back while you’re shooting to break par. Weighing in under 5 pounds, the Monza Featherweight has plenty of storage with 6 pockets (one felt lined for valuables) and an insulated water bottle sleeve.

I packed the Monza Featherweight for my Christmas golf trip to Myrtle Beach and it performed admirably. From Possum Trot to King’s North at Myrtle Beach National, I found my legs still had plenty left in the tank when I reached #18’s green. The dual strap carrying system and EVA molded back panel made the bag extremely comfortable. Turns out my back was just as appreciative as my scorecard.

The Monza Featherweight looks sharp, as you can see here in our photograph (above) at famed multi-story Chelsea Piers Golf Club. Unfortunately, the New York Gear Patrol crew members have been relegated to indoor golf sessions on a Full Swing Golf Simulator and table-side beer service. Pity us.

Cost: $150
