Umbrella Today?
Never Forget Your Umbrella Again
If you ever get to know me, you should know that I am unabashed in my lack of rain preparation - oft by choice. My argument is that I’m a quandary of mankind. I relish the Scotch mist, but admittedly walking a mile+ to work in rain does not make for passable office attire. Oh, except for on wet button-up oxford shirt day.
Enter the simple genius of Umbrella Today?, a website with singular purpose: to tell you when you need an umbrella. In fact, it’s so simple that I can explain its entire process in these three steps…
Head on over to Umbrella Today? and do the following:
- Enter zip code (to see if you can receive alerts)
- Enter phone number and carrier
- Receive text messages whenever you need an umbrella
Marvelous, but I still retain the right to forgo an umbrella if I feel so inclined.

This site is hit or miss with the timing of the texts. I’ve got it set for 6am and often receive the texts after 10am — ie not useful
Interesting, I’ve used it for a couple weeks now and it always provides me a text at 8am on those days it’s snowing/raining, which lately in New York has been nearly every other day. Perhaps its a delay in certain zipcodes. Glad you shared that though.
I once knew a guy who lived in an apartment with no window. Basically, he never knew what to wear and even managed to jack up his circadian rhythms. The moral of the story: if you don’t have a window, you should use this service. Or get a flippin’ window.
How could a person live without a window? I would go crazy very quickly!
Precisement!
In regard to message timing, here’s the problem we have - http://umbrellatoday.tumblr.com/post/65366822/delayed-arrival-of-sms-messages-from-umbrella-today
We’re still working on fixing this issue.
Thanks for the info Matt. I love the idea of the service.
