very cool and very helpful! this is a great post! i prefer to have my suits tailored as well however i'm currently in a massive weight gain phase (up 20 solid pounds since i started hitting the gym heavy) so i don't want to have a suit tailored and then grow out of it. but like you, i wear them very infrequently. i've also got a nice suit from express (with the modern pinstripe) which i have about $250 in after discounts (tried it on in the store, bought it from them online). i would like to tailor the jacket (and will when i hit my weight goal) but the pants fit me better than any dress pants i have ever worn. i'll be checking out this merona line next time i'm at target.

Troy, a professional tailor can shorten the length of a suit 3/4"-1" without throwing the balance of the suit entirely off, but it is a delicate process. If you're shorter than 5'7" I wouldn't suggest doing this with the Merona, it just won't be worth the cost a pro tailor will charge you (more than the suit's price).

Honestly though, most people will be none the wiser if you take an inch and half off though, but you might and that's the most important person.

Love it - I have actually been buying the Merona suit pants at Target for awhile now. An awesome deal, although the seat of the pants seem to "pill" quite easily.

I have a problem with the jacekts though - they don't come in short stature, so the regular length is jut way too long for me.

I'm pretty sure that can't be changed through tailoring.
