Alan,

Unfortunately I think you may be right on diesel being passed over. It is a shame since it could make a great bridge between gasoline and alternatives which will take some time to makes effecient and have the supporting infrastructure.

man, that is badass! but as an offroader and a jeep owner, i can tell you (and so can my dented fender, and dented nerf bar, and scratched paint, etc) that $75k on an MB offroad machine is simply a pipe dream or only obtainable by the mega rich. i've had my jeep in many of spots where it just might not ever return from - the point has been driven home by the numerous abandoned vehicles i've seen stripped of parts as the vehicle itself is unrecoverable. and when i say offroad, i don't mean a mud puddle in the snow, i mean off road. ;) that doesn't mean i wouldn't mind owning one though.

i agree with jon, more diesels in the states! i don't think we'll see it for a while, if at all though. diesel has a negative image here and now with all the focus being thrown on alternative fuels, i don't think we'll ever see a push in that market. :(

So frustrating, when are companies gonna start offering these diesel's in the US. Some of our domestic companies have awesome diesels that either aren't available to the public or only in Europe. Really a shame.
