quantum-of-solace-giveawayCasino Royale was a hard movie to beat: free running, gambling, and Eva Green. Quantum of Solace, (even with Olga Kurylenko as a Bond girl) managed to be entertaining, if not somewhat convoluted, but it’s still definitely a fine addition to any man’s high definition home theater collection.

The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio encoding included on the Blu-ray copy is incredible and easily meets reference grade standards, so you can count on us mentioning it in the future while testing audio equipment. Video is also outstanding and we would argue in someways actually better than the in theater experience, but that’s just us.

In terms of extras, the Blu-ray edition comes packed with multiple, light, but worth a viewing features including:

  • Bond on location
  • Start of Shooting
  • The Music
  • Olga Kurylenko and the Boat Chase (Our obvious favorite)
  • Director Marc Forster
  • Crew Files
  • Another Way to Die, Music video with Jack White and Alicia Keys (Also quite good)
  • Theatrical Trailers in HD

So in fine Gear Patrol tradition, we’ve got an advance copy and we’re going offer a giveaway to one of you lot. There’s no need to dive into any further details about the movie. You’ve got IMDB for that, but we did embed one of the best moments from the movie - when Bond steals a motorcycle (below).

Cost: Blu-Ray ($26) | DVD ($17)

How To Win Quantum of Solace:

another great prize! i would love to add this to my Bond collection!

and as many hotties as there have been, you just can’t top Ursula Andrews in Dr. No.

  • jarret says:

Famke Jansen, dark hair and those crushing legs.

  • Rob Theriot says:

Tracy Draco Played by Diana Rigg in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service - The only girl “Bond” ever marries, although he does so undercover a couple of times, the marriage is short lived - as she is gunned down en route to the honeymoon.

  • Mark B says:

    Have to second Famke Jansen!!!

  • Rob Theriot says:

Tracy Draco Played by Diana Rigg in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service - only one Bond ever marries.

  • Jon says:

Alright I have to comment on this even though I can’t win. After perusing the list to confirm my vote I am going to have to go with Gemma Arterton. I’ve always liked red heads, and Miss Arterton is a stunner. Eva Green is close second though. I think informally we should comment on the worst Bond Girls ever as well. I’m going with Grace Jones (the people who cast her must’ve watched Beverly Hills Cop II and thought “hmmm huge amazonian…that could work”) and Angela Scoular who looks like Bon’s version of Pat.

  • Roan says:

The top “Bond girl” of all time would be Xenia Zirgavna Onatopp, of course. When I die, I want to go out Onatopp.

  • alan says:

worst bond girl? how about Tula Cossey? she was a man! haha!

there have been many nice bond girls and i’m always a sucker for the brunettes so Famke Jensen is way up there on my list.

  • Jim says:

Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore, not only a name and face you would never forget, she’s a pilot. Talk about a new version of the ” Mile High Club”.

  • Lawrence says:

    Jill Masterton. Hands down.

  • Kevin says:

    Elektra King - Ms. Marceau

  • Benjamin says:

    Best Bondgirl?

    Domino - Thunderball.

Sexy, feminine but still strong and could hold her own when she needed to.

Oh, and she wasn’t afraid to “scare the fish” underwater. Gotta love a girl who can go down….

    …skin diving, I mean.

  • Dirt Monkey says:

Both of mine, oddly, are Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale — Ursula Andress in 1967 and Eva Green in 2006. I’m sure many will say Halle Berry, but after her disappointing topless scene (my opinion) in Swordfish, I removed her from consideration. She still looked stunning in that orange bikini, however.

  • Dan says:

Pussy Galore played by Honor Blackman. Two hilarious names for the price of one!

  • Frank B says:

Halle Berry as Jinx. Why ? Ask 100 people what their best memory is of a bond girl and 98 will tell you the scene where Halle Berry is coming out of the beach in that bikini…..

  • Jeff says:

How can you top Ursula Andress in Dr. No…?

Short answer…you can’t, though many have tried.

  • Tyler L says:

    Honey Rider - Ursula Andress

Mainly because she is mentioned in Celebrity Jeopardy.

  • Sean W. says:

the new Vesper Lynd from Casino Royale (Eva Green)… so hot.

(followed by Melina Havelock in For Your Eyes Only)

  • Leroy says:

I’d say Christmas Jones, because apparently Denise Richards can get away with playing a nuclear scientist… plus when else can Bond say “I thought Christmas comes once a year” and it not having a completely awesome double meaning?

  • Rick says:

No matter how HOT it gets……….. No matter HOW thirsty you are……..

Don’t drink the oil. I repeat….Don’t drink the Oil.

Ok, so I vote for Famke! She is as exotic looking as her name!

  • Jim says:

Natalya Simonova, played by Izabella Scorupco. She is stunning. And think about how much higher she’d rank if 1) her character wasn’t a systems analyst and thus didn’t have to dress so frumpy, and 2) Famke Janssen wasn’t the other Bond girl in the movie.

  • Timothy W. says:

Wow, this is a tough one. I thought Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike) was really hawt, despite being a “bad” girl. And I loved Eva Green as Vesper Lynd. My favorite, however, is Tatiana Romanova (Daniela Bianchi) in From Russia With Love.

  • jds17j says:

I would say it’s a tie between Sophie Marceau (Elektra King) and Ursula Andress (Honey Rider & Vesper Lynd in the 1967 parody Casino Royale, if you want to call that a bond movie).

  • Junto says:

Pussy Galore of course! no bond girl has a better name than that!
    Played by Honor Blackman

  • Jeffrey R. says:

    Vesper Lynd from Casino Royale

    1. She’s got a drink named after.
    2. She’s the one who broke his heart.

  • Andrew says:

Love the Bond movies, but I get a kick out of the names. Kitty Stroker on The Property of a Lady… awesome.

  • richard says:

my vote for eva green as vesper lynd

  • Andrew Soucy says:

While it may be surprising, Casino Royale (w/Daniel Craig) is by far my favorite. Makes Pierce Brosnan’s Bond look like a weenie.

  • Tracy says:

Can I still enter if I admit I’ve never seen a James Bond movie so I don’t know which girl is my favorite? Or should I just cheat and copy somebody else’s answer?

(entering to win the movie for my husband)

  • SpencerJames says:

Halle Berry of course! (Though didn’t see that one.)

  • Jay says:

Elektra King is tops in my books, just look at her face and listen to her accent.

  • Adam says:

Hands down it would be Sophie Marceau.

  • Andrew Cha says:

I would have to say Eva Green. Her eyes were mesmerizing in the movie.

  • DeaghDia says:

Kissy Suzuki kickstarted my adolesence in inspired ways.
Sophie Marceau as Elecltra King a delicious second.

Do I have to stop at two ?

  • Jay K says:

    Denise Richards as Christmas Jones.

Richards as a nuclear scientist! Now that’s great acting.

  • James T says:

This is a tough one, but I would have to say that, for me, it’s a toss up between Solitaire & both iterations of Vesper Lynd. They are all smoking hot.

  • WafflesMcGuffin says:

The best Bond Girl was Roger Moore because that guy was the most girlish Bond of all with his blond locks and weak kung-fu. That CIA chick in Moonraker could have taken him no problem.

  • T.J. says:

Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen) Golden Eye of my favs

  • Sang says:

Something about that bath scene with Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye gets me worked up everytime I see it.

Brings out my primal instinct to perpetuate my genes if you get my drift.

  • JasonC says:

Definitely Holy Good-head… I mean Holly

  • keith says:

    Berry…Hally Berry.

  • Kenneth M says:

Its hard to even consider Vesper Lynd a “Bond Girl” per se, but there has been no woman who’s managed to combine smart and sultry quite as well as she has… or made a train scene so sexy. Maybe, that makes Eva Green the best, Bond, girl, ever.

  • Dan Archer says:

Xenia Onatopp, agressive, russian, and a BADD girl!
