About: Allow myself to introduce… myself. My name is Linus and I’m joining GP because I know – as I’m sure you do too – that GP is about more than just gear. It’s about aspiring to something greater. It’s about advancing ourselves. I’m here to help GP readers catalyze their lives.
Born and raised in the Midwest, I spent the last eight years on the West Coast, first for college then for work. Interspersed were two backpacking trips in Asia and six months doing international development work in Trinidad. Now I’m back in the Midwest attending graduate school to learn about how to make money. I’m into traveling, working out, meeting people and drinking Chinese tea.
My priorities at GP are not just to introduce you to the coolest new gear but to evangelize the GP lifestyle. That means embracing the day, giving back and aspiring big. From you, GP reader, I ask for patience and an open mind. I’m fired up about joining GP at such an exciting time in the site’s development and hope you enjoy the ride. I know I will.See Authors Posts (8) on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 | Email To A Friend

Where do you listen to your music? We here at GP are all about quality sound systems but we also recognize that every occasion may not be the right one for a six-piece, $6,000 sound system. If you find yourself moving around frequently and want a speaker that’s compact but still kicks out room-filling sound, look no further than the Yamaha NX-A01.
After testing the NX-A01 extensively for over a year, I can attest to its ability to deliver high-quality sound, and so so with gusto. I’ve brought it with me across the Caribbean and Asia and have found that its particularly useful for hotel rooms, since they rarely provide you with speakers to plug your iPod into. From personal experience, a pre-party without your favorite hip-hop playlist to set the tone is no pre-party at all. With the NX-A01 at the ready, you’ll never be in that predicament again.
Also: Check out the NX-A01 in black too.
Cost: $60
Linus what’re the rough dimensions on this sucker?
Product Dimensions: 3.3 x 3.3 x 3.5 inches ; 3 pounds
What is the weight, and how easy will it fit into my luggage or carry-on? And what kind of power source does it need?
Hi Rory,
It’s about 2 lbs and is powered with an included AC adapter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a battery option so it’s not completely portable.
It will definitely fit into rollerboard-type luggage, but may be a bit bulky if you are trying to put it into a backpack or laptop bag.
Hope this helps!
