Rivet De Cru Jeans
A Well Priced Alternative
When I’m not suited up for my 8 to 5 gig, my outfit of choice has to be a favorite pair of broken-in jeans and a comfortable t-shirt. Add in the right pair of shoes, I’m set with a comfortable, yet trendy look and ready to go just about anywhere.
Gear Patrol was recently introduced to a new brand of premium denim out of Los Angeles called Rivet De Cru. The company’s name, which means “vintage rivet” in French, is perfectly descriptive of their jeans, as they are a great synthesis of your favorite well-worn pair and haute couture.
After years of working in Italy for Parasuco Jeans, owner and designer Ruben Campos has brought continental trends such as creative washes and unique destroy methods to the States. Each pair has a one-of-a-kind feel, and the attention given to washing and fading, coupled with Rivet De Cru’s eye-catching stitching, makes for a great look.
Rivet De Cru offers several different styles, each bearing a man’s name. As you’d expect, they offer both straight leg and skinny cuts in a variety of wash colors. The fit tends to be a little looser in the waist and the seat, with a straighter fit through the thigh and knee. This vintage fit is one of the attributes that gives the look of a pair of jeans that you’ve had for years. If you consider yourself to be a bit fashion savvy, you should happily find a place for Rivet De Cru Jeans in your closet or collection.
Cost: Varies By Style, Many Around $100

Nice find Torrey. Can you comment on the "premiumness" of this denim relative to more mainstream brands? In the past, it seems like these smaller outfits are able to offer comparable quality to higher-end manufacturers that have more recognizable names, resulting in potentially great finds.
Linus,
I would equate the "premumness" of Rivet de Cru jeans to Lucky Brand Jeans. Although, what makes Rivet de Cru standout compared to jeans like Lucky Brand is the extra attention to the small details like the stitching and washing. Although I'm sure Rivet de Cru jeans aren't for every man, those of us who like things that look slightly different from the norm will like Rivet de Cru's look.
Like the sound of 'em. Would be interested to know if they do slim or skinny too, and if so, how skinny. I'm getting long in the tooth, and although I like to keep up with the kids and run with skinny jeans, I like a little give nevertheless… know what I mean? (If you're like me, check out WeSc too).
Have you tried the skinny/slim fit jeans by Earnest Sewn? I personally think they're some of the best jeans out there. Be it fit, wash or material. Especially, Material - it's ridiculously soft.
Love jeans. Love them. Wear them in 100 degree LA or 40 degree Santa Monica.
cool! any idea how that fit is for tall guys? Lucky have been just about the only brand i can wear as I need like a 32 (sometimes 33) / x-long (aka 36+). even Lucky stopped carrying these longer sizes in the store and I have to order them from them online. i would like to find more options.
Great question! I can check with the representative with Rivet de Cru about the inseam length and what is offered. If you will email me at tmcmurray@gearpatrol.com so that I can email you back, I'll find the answer for you.
I'll take a broken in pair of Levi's, Lee's or Wrangler's anyday. Forget the slim fit! Regular all the way. I usually take a 32, but the 34's feel so comfortable I settle on the 36's.
Something about having writing/initals on my buttocks is not so appealing.. they would be sweet minus the signatures on the butt…
The writing on the pocket is a signiture (no pun intended) of Rivet de Cru but the company does offer models and washes where the writing is less visible to the point I would compare to the back pocket designs to Seven jeans.
i felt the same way. but yeah there are some nice pairs where it's not so bad. even the ones in the pic above look clean enough for me.
and thanks, torrey. i'll send you an email.
Nice designs of jeans here i like to wear the it then the others
I carry Rivet de Cru at my shop and on my website, and they are the best fitting Men’s jean I have ever seen. As previously mentioned the detailing is amazing. Every pair is different.
