8. If you don't know how to surf move to a quiet section of the beach. You don't need to learn in the area that's breaking the best. That's the quickest way to have someone 'break' your board. Less crowd = better learning and more waves.

You can get a lot of the eskimo roll info and board selection at http://www.mesurf.com.au in the technique area.

Well written RogD

Haha thanks Den. Apparently they do like an early breakfast; fri and sat lates in summer are usually good to avoid the backpackers; and thirds... well... i'll see if I can find out for you tomorrow morning-- my excuse: "research."

Great stuff -- now what about some insider info! Bondi, Narra, the Bra....what end does tattoo man hang at, what's backpacker time for first beer, and do the sharks really like an early breakfast? Keep the info flowin -- and if seconds is for perverts, whats third? Just what us tryhards need.

You know Googs that's totally true. I try to remind myself of exactly that, especially on weekends... any wave is a bonus in those kinds of conditions. Thanks!

nice words of advice! I reckon the other big tip would be to always keep a cool head. When you're surfing in a zoo you've gotta resign yourself to the fact, and be happy with whatever you get. Only get one wave in a session? Good for you!
